Karina America, LPC-A
Karina has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Religious Studies from North Greenville College and a Master of Divinity degree with a Specialization of Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She spent thirteen years working with adults and families that have experienced grief/loss and trauma in a transitional housing program in New Orleans, LA and the Spartanburg Rescue Mission in Spartanburg, SC. She has also provided grief support for children and teens that had families under hospice care at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.
Karina is passionate about integrating spirituality and creativity in her work, especially with spiritual issues, trauma, grief/loss, depression and anxiety. She utilizes modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Psychospiritual Therapy. She works with individuals from all faith traditions and spiritual beliefs. She utilizes psychospiritual techniques at the client’s request to address spiritual matters.
In her free time Karina likes to spend time with her middle school aged son, three cats and one dog. She also loves to explore many different creative outlets, from painting to textile arts. She likes to read tarot cards, nonfiction books and spend time creating art with her online art support group.
